Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson has slammed Commission on Human Rights chair Jose Luis “Chito” Gascon for defending Rappler after losing its license to operate over foreign ownership.

Mocha, in a Facebook post, said Gascon prefers to fight for Rappler’s rights instead of the thousands of children vacinnated by the controversial Dengvaxia. Gascon attended the #BlackFridayforPressFreedom protest at the University of the Philippines Diliman last Friday.

“Sobrang nakakalungkot ito. Mantakin mo mas pinaglaban pa ang Rappler kesa sa mga kawawang naturukan ng Dengvaxia. Ganito na ba ka bulag ang ilang kababayan natin???” Mocha said.

Mocha echoed the concern raised by fellow Duterte loyalist, Thinking Pinoy, about Gascon’s actions.

“When Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines chief and former Liberal Party of the Philippines director-general Chito Gascon would rather defend greedy corporations like Rappler than 830,000 kids victimized by Department of Health (Philippines) Sec. Janette Loreto Garin, THEN YOU KNOW THERE’S SOMETHING TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY WRONG,” TP wrote on Facebook.

Gascon is an appointee of then President Aquino, who is currently emrbroiled in the dengue vaccine mess.

The CHR recently called on the government to keep the dengue vaccine controvery away from the political noise. “It is to the best interest of the children and their families that this issue be insulated from political noise that distracts from providing genuine and durable solution to the problem at hand,” the commission said.
