The QC MTC Br. 138 earlier today issued arrest warrants against former Senator Antonio Trillanes and several other people charged in the Conspiracy to Commit Sedition filed by the government .
Among those charged were PR firm Campaigns and Grey’s Yolanda “Yolly” Villanueva-Ong, #CocoyGate’s Edward Angelo “Cocoy” Dayao , and a certain Vicente Romano.
This was the first time I’ve heard of this Vicente Romano, so I did a quick background check on this guy.
As it turns out, Romano was a Noynoy Aquino Tourism undersecretary, who voluntarily resigned in November 2010 amidst the Department of Tourism – Philippines’ botched 2010 “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” marketing campaign.
In a verified 2010 statement , Romano said:
“I instructed Campaigns & Grey to take inspiration from the European logos.”
Romano mentioned Campaigns & Grey several times throughout the statement, i.e., the PNoy-era DoT was a Campaigns & Grey client at a time when Villanueva-Ong was still a part of the latter, as it was not until 2014 that Villanueva-Ong left the PR company .
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Yolly Ong was a communications adviser of VP Leni Robredo’s 2016 campaign , but reports indicate that she downplayed her participation by saying it was a pro bono arrangement.
This development involving 2010 DoT, however, changes everything because it confirms that Villanueva-Ong actually earned significant from the Aquino Administration, judging from her position in Campaigns & Grey at the time.
You see, I used to wonder why Rappler was so rabidly pro-Liberal Party, until it was reported that Rappler received Php 40 million from the Aquino Government in 2012 via an “intelligence services” contract .
And as shown above, Campaigns & Grey, where Villanueva-Ong got her salary, also received money from the Aquino Government.
From now on, I will stop wondering why Yolly Villanueva-Ong was stupid enough to blame the Mindanao Earthquakes on Davaoeños .
